My work begins without a fixed image or a clear plan. I paint intuitively, allowing colour, gesture and material to lead the way. Faces and forms often emerge along the way, revealing something I may not have known was there.
I am a self-taught painter and French–Greek visual artist based in Athens,
signing my work simply as Val.
Coming from a background in graphic design, I approach painting differently — less about control and more about discovery. My paintings are expressionist
in nature, shaped by instinct, emotion and the physical act of painting.
I work in layers, and as the painting develops, I move inward and deeper, allowing what is underneath to gradually reveal itself.
I often work with acrylics because their quick drying time allows me to move fast, stay instinctive and respond to what is happening on the surface.
I also work with oil pastels, charcoal, pastels and other materials
across painting and works on paper.
I paint to discover what wants to emerge — and to give it a place to exist.

The works presented here represent a curated selection. Some pieces are framed, others remain unframed, allowing flexibility depending on your preference and setting.
Rather than offering an online shop, I invite you to experience the artworks in person. A studio visit offers the opportunity to encounter the textures, scale, and subtle details firsthand - to stand with the work and discover what resonates with you. Often the right piece reveals itself not on screen, but in presence.
